History

* September 2001 - July 2003

After the tragedies of 9/11, Ya-Ne-Zniyoo got involved with raising money for several funds including:

  • On September 28, 2001, our boys played a 2 hour long set on the streets of Bloomfield that raised $450.00 for the The NY Firefighter's 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund.

  • UNITY: Together for Tomorrow on Saturday, November 17 at Rodeo/Ristra (230 Washington St., Hoboken). This benefit show featured many great local bands, artists and poets and supported UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund), USA for UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), the Hoboken Food Pantry and the Hoboken Shelter.

On December 8, 2001 Ya-Ne-Zniyoo found themselves in Gül Studios in Clifton, NJ with engineer Gabriel Gabriel Añel of Interplanetary Productions and 3 cases of beer. Within 6 hours they had successfully laid down rough live tracks for 13 songs. The next gruelingly long step in the process was tainted by misfortune. Click here for the full details.

The aptly titled "All Is Not Lost" was officially released on March 27, 2003 at a fancy NYC party. Held high above Times Square at the Ava Lounge. Click here to read more about it.

On June 8, 2003 they celebrated the NJ release of the CD at a party that proved to be an historic event. The 3 original members of Ya-Ne-Zniyoo (Stephen Bailey, Ed Zimmer & Nelson Pla) performed together for the first time in a decade. Click here to read more about it.

Ever since these parties, Eric and Stephen have been performing as an acoustic duo in an effort to keep the message of their music alive while continuing to explore new avenues of creativity. They've added electronic gadgets, experimented with odd new tunings and recruited other players from time to time. They've not given up the idea of a band completely. They've just grown tired of the politics and general bullshit associated with trying to keep a band together.

This proved to be a very successful formula on their trip to Austria in July 2003 as part of the 2003 European Cultural Capital. Read Stephen's personal journal of the trip.
